Day 19,883

OK, this is kind of a special day here in Lawrence, Looks like Kansas has secured at least a share of the Big 12 COnference in Men’s Basketball for the fourteenth consecutive year.

That’s kind of a big deal.

Other than that, Dane and I made a few runs to the storage unit and brought some stuff back. Watched Chaplin with the wife and youngest daughter. Got my clothes organized for my trip to Seattle tomorrow, and I bought booze for the trip.

Enrique would approve of my rum choice.

Other than that, not a whole lot to report today.

I guess I could say that I had a great class this last week and maxed out on my evaluations. That’s always a good thing. Good some laundry done. Enjoyed a nice family dinner. Wrapping up the night with a glass of milk and some cookies now, Chaplin still playing in the background, now to the section of the movie where he mocked Hitler during the thirties.

I wonder what kind of movie Chaplin would make these days?

That thought has an appeal, for sure.

Anyway, I need to get a few more things done, then shower and get ready for bed.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,882

Good evening, future people!

I’ve had a pretty good day.

Started off the day with one module to cover in my Exchange 2016 class. We wrapped up in decent time, and I was back in Lawrence to enjoy lunch downtown prior to getting the oil changed on the Flex.  Tried the “new” sushi place that took over the location of my old favorite sushi place. It was pretty good. Some of the menu items have changed, some more than others.

After that, oil change, then I had to run back to the office to pick up a package I needed prior to heading to Seattle, so I decided to fulfill a promise and bring the Freya along for the ride.

She was a hit.

I think she universally appealed to everyone in the office. She is so darn cute, and many of my coworkers commented about how soft her coat is. It’s true. She is velvety to the touch.

Other than that, it’s been a pretty mundane day. I’m going to get this wrapped up, then hit the sack, and try and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

There’s plenty of stuff to focus on tomorrow before I head up to Seattle (Bellevue) for my trainer conference.

Be good.
Peace y’all.

Day 19,881

Day Four in the Sauna that is my classroom. I am really glad all of my students are remote. This would be a much more challenging environment if people were on premises.

It’s a bit later than my earlier paragraph, and there has been a compromise. I now have a fan in the door, and from the sound of the thing, it has received clearance from the tower and is ready for takeoff.

The room is cooler now, though, so there is that.

My students are into the module nine lab on Exchange Online, setting up their trial accounts up in the cloud for their exploration.

I’m watching the weather, wondering how bad this is going to get this afternoon. More freezing rain expected, which means more cars in the ditch on the way home.

Hopefully, I won’t be one of them, but that’s the way it goes. February in Kansas, winter in Kansas, means that we have the occasional inundation of ice on any surface cold enough to affix to.

Maybe I can find a store that has a couple of bundles of firewood I can throw in the car on the way home, treat the family to a fire in the woodburning stove tonight.

That would be nice.

I just have to get my butt home safe and sound first.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,880

It’s Wednesday. I’m doing some labs with my students, but I’m going to endeavor to complet my blog entry before I head home later today so I can kick it with my family and not have the “need to blog” lingering in the back of my mind.

I’ve got a presentation I need to assemble. I’ve got most of the requisite parts ready to go, just have to get into some final assembly.

_____________

It’s been a few hours since I first posted, and now class is wrapping up with my students running through a backup and restore lab to close out the day.

During labs, I run through my notes, and, as time permits, sneak over and take a look at what’s happening in social media.

It’s a pretty tense time in America. There is so much potential for some parts of our society to be fixed, but there is so much anger.

So in essence generic versions of hop over to these guys generico levitra on line will contain the same active component i.e. seanamic.com cialis in australia To take this type of medication, what you need to do is just to squeeze the sachet in the mouth. Penegra will be however tadalafil 50mg like this one of the superb capsule that you can exercise to battle against the PDE5 enzyme which is held liable for loose erections.
Anger is no substitute for intellect.

That might be a pretty condescending thing to write, but it’s true. I see so many people filled with righteous indignation as if their anger gives them the right to blow people off that are making legitimate points. People just don’t want to listen.

People are afraid.

I don’t know. Maybe I just suck at being a human being.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,879

It’s a little bit after 8:00 on Tuesday night, the 20th day of February 2018.

It’s been a little on the nasty side here from a weather perspective. Roads were slick this morning on the way in, and that, apparently, was just the beginning of the ice coating Mother Nature decided to deposit on Kansas, like a great big frozen turd.

My commute to work was rather nasty. To put things in perspective, we received a call just before I left that school for the Lawrence school district was canceled across the board due to the ice.

You can imagine that little piece of info didn’t fill me with the greatest confidence.

There were any number of cars in the ditch, including at least one Kansas Highway Patrol vehicle.

I figured the best bet for me was to keep my speed to a manageable rate, and keep my eyes on the road,.

Funny thing, though about driving on frozen roads. You can feel them underneath you, and you know the feeling of a car being a little loose. The overpass on K-10 that goes over Lexington Road in DeSoto was a nasty spot, and I felt the front and back of the car get a little loose on me.

That stuff will get a driver refocused in a hurry.

Anyway, I’m safe.

Be cool.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,878

It’s Monday afternoon, and I’m going to get this out there before I go home for a relaxing evening with my wife and kids. And dogs. Can’t forget the dogs.

I’m teaching Exchange 2016 this week, and all of my students are remote. We’re spanning three different time zones, and I think things are going OK. I have had some really good questions from one of my students who is in Arizona, preparing for an upgrade from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2016. I have a sneaking feeling that her upgrade is going to go just fine.

After I get this set of labs wrapped up, I’ll have to log out and shit down, as our conferencing software is applying a major update tonight. I’m hoping it doesn’t screw things up. I have things just how I like them right now.

Not really a big deal though… my preferences are closely aligned with the default settings.

I need to find a recipe on how to prep a pork shoulder in a Canadian pressure cooker.

That line was filler… I throw those in from time to time when I can’t think of anything better to say or write, but still want to achieve my 200-word goal in an expeditious manner.

And there you have it.

Kansas hosts Oklahoma tonight, hoping to get a little revenge after a bad beat in Norman last time we faced them.

Kansas is going to bring it… and Doke will be bringing it with a vengeance tonight.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,877

It’s Sunday night. I have to confess, there are a lot of tired people around these parts. Dane is doing homework, if he hasn’t already gone to bed. Lisa is sawing some logs in her chair in the living room, and I’m wiped out after a productive day around the house.

It’s just after 8:00 at night on Sunday.

I still giggle a little bit when I hear Lisa snoring in the living room.

So, yeah, we had a really nice brunch today. Helped going to Mass last night, so we all could sleep in a little bit today.  Lisa made a wonderful quiche (think “meat-cheese-egg pie” for those of you ‘real men’ that don’t eat quiche) and some fresh banana bread to go with it. There is something wonderful about fresh, hot banana bread with a slice of butter on it, melting into the slice, and enjoying that with a nice cup of coffee.

I’m spoiled.

After that Dane and I made a few runs to the storage unit to empty it out. We did it. We got through one of those units.

Tomorrow I head back into Kansas CIty for work. I’ll be teaching Exchange 2016 for a small group of students, all remote.

Kind of funny thinking I could be teaching from home if my internet was configured a little differently.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now.

Hope your life is filled with happiness and puppies.

That might be redundant.

Peace y’all.

Day 19.876

OK, this is going to be one of those attempts to see how quickly I can rattle off two hundred words, then hit the sack… because this old boy is tired.

Dane and I spent a good portion of the day cleaning our stuff out of one of the storage units we’ve been using ever since we decided to get the house on the market. We’re just a few trips away from having that sucker cleared out.

After that, we went to church, Dane was an altar server for the four o’clock Mass up on campus, then we jetted home to watch the KU-WVU basketball game right up until…

… the last five minutes of the game, when we needed to all jump in the car to make out 7:30 dinner reservation at 6 Mile Chophouse. Hey, there’s lot’s of stuff going on, but it’s still Lisa’s and my twenty-second wedding anniversary.

I probably ought to just hang this up… oh, wait. We went for ice cream after dinner, too. Silas and Maddy’s in downtown Lawrence. Great ice cream.

OK, so now I’m thinking about wrapping this up and hitting the sack. We still have some work to get done tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to sleeping in a little bit tomorrow.

Y’all have a great evening, weekend, month.. life.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,875

OK, let’s get this thing rolling! How are you guys tonight? I really hope I’m there to hear you tell me about your day. Seriously. The time will come that I will be gone from this mortal plane, but in the meantime, I want you to know that I am all about family.

(And if any of you are adopted, or step-kids, know that I love you just the same. Love is more important than blood.)

I had an opportunity to sleep in a little bit today, and I availed myself of the opportunity. After I got up on this fine first Friday of the Lenten season, I had a big cup of coffee and three pieces of toast smothered in creamy peanut butter. Peanut butter on toast goes with coffee, and don’t let anybody tell you any different.

After running an errand or two, I went to the Kansas City Woodworking Show. Didn’t buy much, but I did have plenty of opportunities. I was told I had the opportunity to buy the first of a new kind of router table lift from Krieg that would put me on the front page of their website.

At almost three hundred bucks, I took a pass. Not a hard pass, but a “higher priorities” pass.

I bought a couple of books on pen turning, and hopefully, that will get set headed in the right direction with that stuff.

Anyway, just wanted to share with you a little bit about my day. Hope your day and your weekend are an absolute blast.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,874

As I’ve mentioned the last couple of days, I’m trying to avoid posts or responses to posts relating to anything political.

I have to tell you, right now that is an incredible challenge, and the old man is struggling with it.

There have been some significant events the last couple of days, and I have to tell you, I really wanted to chime in.

But I’m not going to.

The thing is, there are forces out there that relish in a divided America. There are forces out there that want nothing more than to see the United States of America meltdown and destroy itself from the inside. They are sending messages towards the people of this country that exacerbate our differences, and get under our skin like an irritating sliver that just can’t get pulled back out.

I don’t want to be a pawn in that game.

Other than that, Dane had a nice little band concert tonight, followed by a little meeting about the band’s upcoming trip to Orlando. The band is going to Disneyland.

Good for them.

They’ve worked hard for this reward, and every high school kid ought to experience what it’s like to spend twenty plus hours on a bus.

Peace y’all.
