Day 19,940

OK, it’s Sunday night here in rural Douglas County. Dane and I got a bit of an early start today, heading over to Topeka to resume a longtime campaign with some friends.

When I was Dane’s age, I was introduced to the game Dungeons and Dragons by my younger brother’s baseball coach. I had seen ads for it in the “Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction”, a little periodical that had short stories and novellas and came out every month.

I introduced the game to several other friends, and we had a great time. Some of the best times I ever had growing up were just sitting around a table rolling dice.

Now, we are into the third year of this campaign, and things are as good as ever. Sure, we don’t play with the regularity of a regular campaign, but we work in sessions when we can.

Today was one of those days.

So, we completed a big portion of our quest (for Odin) and expose a plot by his wayward son (Loki).

Day 19,939

Hey, gang, it’s been a long day here in rural Douglas County.  Lots of stuff going on, and I’m glad things have wound down so I can get back to just being grumpy old curmudgeonly me.

Gracie had some friends over today as part of her first meeting of the “Future Grandparents of America” club. They worked on some pillowcases and needlepoint, and if I know my daughter,  probably got a primer on making quilts.

Dane & I went to the four o’clock Mass this afternoon. We have an appointment tomorrow morning in Topeka to engage in a little gaming, resuming a campaign we started a couple of years ago. It’ll be nice to get back around the table and roll some dice.

Lisa and I had dinner guests tonight, and that was a positive experience.

Other than that, I’m pretty well spent. I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep, hoping that I can finally kick some of this congestion that has been taking up residence in my lungs for the better part of the last week.

Its demand has been increasing significantly as the patients have symptoms like sexual dysfunction and reduced fertility, after the vigorous treatment of prostatitis, they will also become better and return back to normal. http://www.fundacionvision.org.pa/viagra-5797.html acquisition de viagra Patients have realized that they canadian pharmacy viagra have the choice on who provides care for their health. Yeah, I’m running out of words today.

I cleaned a couple of fountain pens today. Does that count?

Yeah, sometimes we write stuff just to take up space.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,938

Hey kids, old fat grampa Bob here, throwing down a little script before I call it a night.

It was kind of funny. I was putting away some clothes just a few moments ago, and right after I got done, Lisa comes into the bedroom, ready for the night, and she asks me if I would mind if she watched some of the news. Of course, I was fine with it. I told her, “I still have two hundred words to get down in my blog before I hit the sack”.

With a rather wry smile, she looked up at me and said, “You know what I would do? I would just write TWO HUNDRED WORDS”.

I like the way my baby thinks, but I also had to confess that I had done that before, in an effort to create some sort of smartass shortcut.

I’m writing this for my future progeny. My grandchildren, and maybe even my great-grandchildren.

Who knows, maybe one day I’ll even be the subject of some report for some descendant of mine who needs a little help.

“My great grampa wrote in his blog every day”.

You know what, that kind of thing appeals to me every time I think about it.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,937

Good day, whoever you might be reading this missive, this slice of my brain that tries to get onto the page before something coagulates.

Today has been a bit on the uninteresting side. Took care of some reading early in the day, ran my car in to have it serviced while I grabbed a bite of lunch at a place across the street from my mechanic, followed by a hefty portion of my remaining afternoon perched on a John Deere X380 Riding Lawn Mower.

After a couple hours of that, we settled in for a nice meal, meatloaf, potatoes, and green beans (how much more standard midwest fare are you going to find?), and then we watched a little television, alternating between the news of the day and a couple of recorded episodes of “The Big Bang Theory”.

My legs are wiped out. It’s funny how tired you can get on a riding lawn mower. You would think that it wouldn’t be so bad, but I think it’s the vibration that gets to me. My yard could stand a little smoothing out, and riding that mower with the throttle set of high combined with the rotation of the blades send some vibration through one’s body. Not an overwhelming discomfort, but it does tire you out.
The medication is not recommended for people suffering from health issues like depression, online cialis hair loss, or erectile dysfunction (ED). So, to that end, old grampa Bob is going to call it a night.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,936

Hey, future progeny, what’s shakin’? Old grampa Bob here just recapping a little of what will one day become ancient history.

Growing up, there weren’t a lot of science fiction options on TV. Lost in Space, Star Trek, The Six Million Dollar Man, and a few other shows of arguable import.

Lost in Space was one of those show we’d watch after school. The Robinsons, with Dr. Smith, and the Robot were part of my steady afterschool fare.

Today I wrapped up Netflix’s reboot of the original Lost in Space series. There were some notable changes to the characters as well as the plotline. First of all, the scientific leader of the family is Maureen Robinson. She’s a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, I’d guess mechanical or aerospace. John Robinson is no longer the Guy Williams type – he’s a Navy SEAL, played by Toby Stephens, the son of one of the grand dames of the stage and screen, Dame Maggie Smith. It was the first time I recall seeing Toby Stephens in something interesting since he was a featured baddy in a James Bond movie twenty years ago.

Jonathan Smith played the over-the-top Dr. Smith in the original series, half saboteur, half medical doctor, one hundred percent self-serving. In the new series, he has been replaced with Parker Posey… and they’ve gone a little off the rails with that character. She’s adopted the persona of a real doctor, but in reality, it’s more appropriate to describe her as a mental patient with some serious issues.

It’s worthwhile. I particularly like Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson. I liked her as Alma Garret on Deadwood. She pulls off the engineer/mom role very well.

That’s all I’ve got for now, but I hope you have a great day.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,935

OK, I’ve done something, and I’m going to write about it, because what the heck, I’ve got something to write about.

I joined the Dollar Shave Club.

I was a little skeptical at first, but I’ve received my first shipment, and I can’t say I’m disappointed.

I received my razor-blade handle, four blades, some shaving butter, some shower gel, and a few of their sanitary wipes.

I’ve always been a fan of Edge gel. Now, those of you that have never met me, you should know that I’ve been shaving my head and most of my face for twenty years. I’m not going t say that I’m some expert on shaving, but on a daily basis, I do shave more surface area than the average person.

I was impressed. I really liked the weight of my new razor, and the way it’s created, it makes it easier to hear the sound of the blade cutting through the whiskers.

I know that’s not a big deal to some people, but I’m the kind of guy that wants to be able to drag a cotton ball across my head when I’m done shaving in the morning.

Yeah, I’m a little weird that way.

I look forward to continuing my experience with Dollar Shave Club.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,934

Hey, young ones, it’s the old fat grampa again, just slapping a few words onto the page, as I have done for the last year and some change.

Still down with this respiratory crap. Coughing fits followed by sneezing fits, followed by having all of the energy sapped from my body. Not a lot of fun.

Didn’t have the most productive day, for obvious reasons, and I’ll likely hit the hay early tonight, too, and see if one more good sleep will help me kick this crap.

Lisa has invited some people from work over for dinner tomorrow, so that means I have to stuff to get done throughout the day in anticipation of that.

Can’t forget I need to pick Gracie up at the auto shop at one o’clock tomorrow, too.

Lisa is currently watching one of her crime shows, either “Criminal Minds” or “Law and Order: SVU’. She likes the fact that they always get their suspect in the end.

For instance, excessive smoking and alcohol drinking cialis 10 mg is one hindrance for better ejaculation.

I’m not as into that type of show. I’d rather laugh about something before going to bed than see something involving a murder, whether fake or real.

That’s all I’ve got for right now. As I told you earlier, I’m not having the best couple of days from a health perspective.

I hope you are well.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,933

Sunday night, and I’ve been dealing with some sort of funk today that decided to take residence in my sinuses and pound on my brain with a viral sledgehammer.

Lisa is down with it, too, although she thinks she’s on the tail end of it and maybe I’m on the front end.

This next week is looking to get busy, lots of things to get squared away for tomorrow and Tuesday. I have a pretty long list.

Lots for the think about. I seem to be waxing a bit philosophical today, reading passages by philosophers and poets, ideas about our place in the universe, and how we are accompanying each other on a journey.

And then the sniffles and the sneezing kick back in for a spell.

I’ve got too much to do to feel like crap.

9:40.

And about another sixty words and I’ll hit the sack.

Sometimes those sixty words pour out like so much coffee or tea from a silver serving pot.

Other times, it’s more of a struggle.

Writing on demand isn’t something that I excel at, another form of performance anxiety I suppose.

I wonder what would happen if I just forced myself to sit in front of a screen and write, choosing to ignore all other distractions.

Time will tell, I guess.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,932

It’s a Saturday night back here in rural Douglas County. My wife and daughter have returned safely from the conference in Atlanta, and for that, I am truly grateful. I always get a little protective when my wife and kids travel, which means their safe return means that much more.

Other than that, we’ve played it rather safe today. Dane was serving at 4:00 Mass, so Lisa, Gracie and I attended then.

We collectively hit the grocery store afterward, then it’s been a pretty uneventful evening.

At this point, I’m just trying to crank out enough words to meet my pledge, then it will be time for me to skate off into the ethereal realm of sleep.

(Right now I’m looking at the little word count meter in the lower left-hand corner and wondering why one-hundred-and-thirty-five words look like so many more when they are sitting on the page)

I should be focused on the positive, though. My wife is home, and I always sleep better when she’s here. I get to sleep in tomorrow. We all do. And I do believe we will.

Lisa just let me know she is heading off to bed. That’s probably a pretty compelling sing that I should consider the same.

Peace y’all.

Day 19,931

Let the bombing begin!

OK, I have know idea what you kids are going to be like, or how the crazy things that are happening now are going to impact you in the coming years. Heck, if the current EPA administration, you may have become genetically modified to treat lead-tainted water.

Almost two years ago, I warned some people about Trump. I was concerned about his judgment, his personal life, and his business dealings with Russian interests.

Now, the Trump administration is looking for distractions, and when the fecal residue is hitting the oscillating blade, you need a distraction that isn’t just big, but BIG!

The bigliest of distractions.

Ugh.

I wonder how many people are going to have to die because the Donald had sex with a porn star that reminded him of his daughter.

Wow, that has to be such a compliment to Ivanka.

And then there’s whatever sort of emotional menudo that Melania has to be sorting through, discovering that her husband had at least two affairs while she was recovering from childbirth.

Stay classy, Trump.

In the meantime, I’m going to watch the news, do the dishes, do my laundry, and get a good night’s sleep.

Lisa and Bonnie get back tomorrow.

Peace y’all.
