Hi everybody! It is Wednesday, 26 July 2023.
One of the things I do is post my blog updates across social media. I’ll post on Facebook, Mastodon, and, historically, Twitter – or whatever Elon Musk thinks he wants to call it this week.
The other day, Musk apparently announced a change to the branding of Twitter, changing the logo from the blue bird to a dark, ominous capital “X”. A few other companies already have registered trademarks and products that use the letter X. Xerox trades their stock under the abbreviation “X”, and other tech companies – Meta, Microsoft, have other products (like Microsoft’s XBox) that use that letter as well. On Monday, I first logged in to Twitter, and at 6:30 AM it was still a bird. At 9, it was the letter “X”. It was at some point later that day that somebody in legal told Elon about the trademark problem, and yesterday morning, the logo switched back to a bird. I have a feeling it will be an “X” when I log in shortly… I hope they can make up their minds.
There’s plenty going on in the news, lots at the federal level, and then there’s the weather and climate news that folks really don’t want to hear.
I’m back in my virtual classroom in another hour, and I’m going to use the rest of my time this morning to get my motivation for the day. Some days are easier than others. This morning, I’m struggling a little bit, but I’ll get it sorted.
I’m going to get after it.
