Good morning. It is the 8th day of November 2022. It is election day in the United States, and I’m already tired of this day.
Seriously.
Elections suck all the air out of the room. The money spent on elections could feed the hungry and house the homeless. There are enough lies told (legally) to keep the country’s priests in confessionals for decades.
Just saw a graphic talking about the amount of money billionaires are spending on candidates, and it’s absolutely hideous, primarily because billionaires don’t want their taxes to go up. They’re ok with everybody else getting the bill, but they don’t like it when they are asked to pay as much as the working folks of this country.
That’s not a joke. That’s not a misleading statement. This country does some interesting things with taxes – the income tax that folks pay on their wages can vary from income class to income class, but in the case of my wife and I, we’re around 30% on federal income tax. Billionaires earn their $$$ primarily through investment income that is taxed at a rate of about 8%.
Billionaires want to pay less… and they don’t really give a rat’s ass about anybody other than themselves.
I probably ought to turn the TV off for the rest of the day. Or maybe the year.
I probably ought to go back to my sunroom and focus on things I can control.
