Day 20,301

Tuesday night in rural Douglas County, and I am grateful for the safe return of my wife from her trip back east.

Won’t be long til I’m the one packed up and heading out the door for another trip. Gladly, I’ve already made arrangements to have dinner with some of my internal friends (ok, that could sound weird… internal friends meaning friends of mine that are longtime internal full-time employees at Microsoft).

It feels good to be on board. I spent a long time on the outside looking in , and now, here I am, almost coming up on two months with the mothership.

I am a happy man. So many things are going right in my life, and very reassuring when my wife, my kids, my friends, and my professional peers reassure me that I belong. I’ve worked hard to get where I’m at. For me, it was a meandering journey, when for so many their careers have been the shortest distance between two points. My career path more closely resembles my golf game. When I pay for a round of golf, I’m there to admire the beauty of the course… every square inch of it.
