Day 20,260

It’s Wednesday night in rural Douglas County. The temperatures around here have barely reached into the thirties, but it looks like tomorrow will see forty degree weather for a few days, maybe more.

I spent the day tending to regular, mundane work stuff, reading, preparing, reading some more, sitting in on a conference call, then returning to the preparatory work of getting ready for my first class. I’m working on “the talk”, trying to make the presentation of the material as seamless as possible.

Tomorrow, I’ll tackle the certification exam that I need to move forward and start teaching on the road. I need to put together an outline of demos and modules as a working set. I also need to take some time and go through the Skillpipe curriculum and get some more notes in there for my students moving forward. What the students might think is adequate for class notes is probably a notch or two below what I would consider adequate.

I’m excited. I’m on edge. I want to stand out, stand up, and keep my head down at the same time.

It’s the most exciting time of my professional life, and I’m confident in my ability, but at the same time… some anxiety. Pretty normal for me. I need to chill out, and I will, and then I’ll get out there and do my thing, and everything will be fine.
