Day 20,138

OK, gang! It’s Tuesday night in rural Douglas County. KU Jayhawks opened up the season with a win over #10 Michigan State, winning by four, but the game never really seemed that close, with Kansas leading by as many as seventeen.

In other news, we’re keeping a close eye on the elections, where there has already been some news for those of a progressive mind set. Sharice Davids has defeated Kevin Yoder for one of the house seats, and Laura Kelly has defeated Kris Kobach for the Governor’s office. I’m pretty happy about those two voter counts.

The other two that I am paying really close attention to are too close to call. Paul Davis almost won the governorship in 2014, but didn’t get over the hump. He’s now running for  the House seat being vacated by Lynn Jenkins. Davis opponent is a guy that looks pretty good on paper, but to be honest, Steve Watkins look like he’s spent all of his time after high school trying to avoid living in Kansas.

It will all get shaken out in the morning. There’s some other heartbreaking contests, but I can’t dwell on those, as they are in districts and states that I can’t vote in. All I can do is focus on what’s happening here in Kansas.

The other election that is driving me a bit nuts is the Secretary of State race. I’ve been supporting former Google VP Brian McClendon ever since he declared himself a candidate. The other guy is a nobody, yet it looks like the nobody is putting up a better fight than I ever exptected. Might have to wait on that one, too.

Too much to think about. I’ll never be able to sleep otherwise.

Peace y’all.
