Kennedy was a more moderate voice on the Supreme Court, and often broke ties one way or the other throughout his tenure on the bench. Trump, aided by a Russian influence campaign, wins and soon after appoints Gorsuch to the bench. Since then, Gorsuch has come down with decisions favoring the Trump administration at every turn, and he isn’t very highly regarded among legal scholars.
