Day 19,978

I’m still a little peeved about getting my numbering thrown off. Looks a bit odd seeing that numerical gap, but no days lost.

Anyway, as days go here in rural Douglas County, today was a good one.

We had company on Memorial Day.

First to arrive was my niece Taylor, who drove in from Kansas City for the day.

Next to arrive, my brother-in-law Sean and my nephew Logan. They had spent some time with Sean’s mother in southeast Kansas.

It was great being able to show my mom and dad around the new house. Dane and I worked on some of the cooking together, and he did a great job minding the smoker while I took care of other things. Later, I threw a dozen burgers and a pack of hot dons in the grill. Lisa wanted to make sure we had enough food for everybody, which means everybody got enough to eat, and there was still enough leftovers to feed a battalion of berserkers for a month.

We had a great day.

I don’t know if my folks will ever be able to come over to visit again, so I’m glad we made the most of the day.

Peace y’all.
