OK… that’s called self-deprecating humor. Basically, you’re putting yourself down. A lot of people do it, and many do it so that whoever they are around come back with positive statements, or semi-positive statements like “Oh, don’t be so hard on yourself. You suck, but you don’t suck nearly as bad as you think you do”.
I’m probably more guilty of doing that than I’ll readily admit to, but I do have flaws in my personality, and trying to seek approval and acceptance is probably something that I’ve been a little obnoxious about over the years.
When I was a kid, my dad was with a big company, International Harvester, and he got promoted a few times. We started in Sioux City, and when I was four we moved to Topeka, Kansas. We stayed there three years then moved to Omaha. We were only there about six months when dad got promoted again, so it was off to Kansas City, Missouri for a year. Then it was the move to Salina, where I finished out elementary and high school. We still moved once, between my seventh and eighth-grade years.
I think one of the reasons I can be the most outgoing person you’ve ever seen was due to personality traits. I seemed to always start over making friends.
