Day 19,684

I believe everybody has something about them that makes them exceptional.

We are all for the most part mundane beings. We have more in common with each other than we have different. Just about all of us have 5 functioning senses. Even in the cases where a person through one thing or another has lost a particular sense, we still have most of those sensesĀ in common.

We also have most of our wants and needs. We need food and shelter. We need clean air and water. We want a better future for our children. We want to live without fear.

And, I hope, for the most part, we want to pull our own weight and give back.

And some rise higher than the rest. I guess it’s just a little bit of social Newtonian physics. Some are going to rise above. Some are going to fall well below the line.

I look at my kids and I see some exceptional qualities. Might be the way they look at the world. Might be the energy they put into solving a problem. Might be my own personal bias because they’re my kids and want to believe there is something exceptional about them.

For any grandchildren that ever read this diatribe, yeah, Bonnie, Gracie, and Dane are a pretty cool bunch of kids. Proud to call them mine. Yeah, they have their flaws… I’ll write about that in a few more years after they’ve picked my nursing home.

Anyway. embrace your talents. You be you.

Peace y’all.
