Day 19,667

We’re having an interesting night in Lawrence, Kansas, folks.

Lightning, lightning, and more lightning. Makes the 4th of July look like a wannabe.

I do find the weather fascinating. Cold fronts meeting warm fronts, and the storms take over from there.

I’ve lived in Kansas most of my life. Let me tell you, there are few places on Earth where you can see some of the meteorological mayhem.

And BOOM! Another really close lightning strike with the thunderclap less than a second behind.

I don’t mind the long delay flash/bangs. When they’re in the distance, I don’t really sweat it. but when you can’t even get a one-Mississippi in after the flash, that strike is getting a little too close for comfort.

Another big flash… about ten miles away.

A couple of weeks ago I shot a little FB Live footage of a wall cloud heading my way. I love to share the incredible power of nature when it presents itself. But tonight, I’m better off inside.

It’s really hard to share this weather at night. I don’t have the camera for it, but when the new house happens, I would absolutely love to set up an HD camera, wireless, on the deck and point it towards the coming storm and share every chance I get.

Tonight though, your best bet is the Weather Channel.

Have a safe night.

Peace y’all.
