I need to think about reading more fiction again.
I love fiction. Heck, I love books. For the last few years, however, I’ve been primarily focused on reading via audio books. I do love the format, as it adds a degree of portability that you just don’t get from the traditional medium. I can listen to a book while I drive, or do other things. I used to love to listen to audiobooks while I played golf.
One of the things that I really like about a good audiobook is the voice talent. Such talented voice actors and narrators. I often dreamt about narrating audiobooks, but I’ve come to the realization that the medium may not be in my future as my voice is likely too deep. Just about all of the narrators I listen to have a range in the tenor to baritone range… not a lot of baritone-bass voices in that field, but I get that. A lot of the characters in the books are going to be female and children, and it is more of a challenge to present that character for a deep-voiced male.
Right now I’m listening to the Patty Jansen Ambassador series. I’m getting into it, slowly but surely.
