Day 19,646

I realize that there a very few people that honestly give a shit about what I have to say, or how I’m feeling at any given moment, and that’s OK.

Seriously… how often do we stop and ask people how they are doing, and say it in such a manner that we inviteĀ a real, feeling response.

(I know my wife reads my blog posts, and I am grateful… love you babe.)

I found out early this morning that an old friend of mine passed away. I don’t know all of the details. She was a pro. She could eat a steak that would challenge an NFL lineman. She could drink, smoke, and swear in a fashion that would make a sailor blush (and I can tell you who that sailor is, by the way, right Jerry?).

She was a security pro. She was a fellow gamer. She loved her pets, and she made me grateful for uneventful travel and a good night’s sleep.

She was younger than me.

Every time I post, I post a day and number. The average human lifespan is about 30,000 days. I post with the day number to remind me that life is short. Live each day.

Laura didn’t make it to 30,000. I will miss her. Whether it’s at a Microsoft event, a dinner, a reunion of the clique that doesn’t exist, or in-game.

I would wish more for her.

The world is a little bit less cool without her in it.

I salute you, Laura A. Robinson. You’ll always be the Borg Queen… and I’m glad you finally got a restful night’s sleep.

GeekWench is offline.

Peace y’all.

Incredibly sad about this. I have known Laura online from the NNTP days, I learned a lot from her, we never met in person, although I saw her speak at MCT summit in Redmond. She was in and out, and I never got to express my thanks to her for being a big example for me.
Although I am not professionally involved in the Microsoft side of things anymore, I kept up with evil MCT clique, and all surrounding this. I always welcomed her posts. And I think the world has lost a beautiful woman, and a beautiful person.
Laura, I will be thinking of you
